Hello, Stony Lane Families! On behalf of the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO), I would like to say welcome back, or welcome to, Stony Lane Elementary School! While this is an unprecedented year for all of us, I could not be more grateful for the countless hours Ms. Hitchener, our teachers and staff, and school district administration have put in over the last several months to bring our children back to school as safely as possible – whether it’s in-person learning or distance learning from home. If we can all agree on one thing, it’s that whatever educational choice we made for our families, we are all working together to support one another and to be STONY STRONG! We, the PTO, look forward to supporting our teachers and staff with resources they need, finding new and creative ways of enriching our children’s in-person and distance learning education journeys, and working together to remain connected through community-building opportunities. As we say, "It's a GREAT day to be a WHALE!" Please check out our website and the attached pictures on what arrival, lunch and recess have looked like in person. In person students will begin academic screenings 9/21 - 10/2. Kinder and Grade 1 will do AIMS Web assessments. Grades 2-5 will do STAR Reading and Grades 1-5 will do STAR Math. For Distance Learning students, this will be determined shortly. FOR BOTH IN PERSON AND DISTANCE LEARNING STUDENTS - If your child has completed the Summer Reading Bingo card they can bring it in or share a picture with me and we will get them the light up Yo Yo that they have earned! Birthday cards this year are electronic to limit paper contact! Please have your child check their school email for their birthday card from all of us at Stony Lane! This is a message from North Kingstown School District on behalf of the Rhode Island Department of Education. Parents – if you have a child who is a North Kingstown resident and will be four years old by September 1st, you may enter your child’s name in a lottery to receive one year of free, high-quality preschool education through the Rhode Island Pre-Kindergarten Program. You must submit an application no later than July 5th in order to be part of this lottery. Applications are available now at the Sunshine Child Development Center (11 Iafrate Way). Paper applications need to be submitted to any State Pre-K site by July 2nd.
